Mutual Alliance Group comprises of six (6) distinct companies involved in different aspects of business. The group has a combined capitalization of N465million (US$3.5million) with annual profit of N130million (US$1million) as at December 31, 2004.

 The group is made up of the following distinct Companies:

  1. Mutual Alliance Savings & Loans Ltd: This Company is a licensed mortgage bank involved in mortgage, retail and consumer banking with over 10 branches spread all over Nigeria. Mutual Alliance Savings & Loans is the flagship of the group.

  2. Mutual Alliance Property Development Ltd: This Company is involved in real estate development. Presently the company is involved in the development of 400 units of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom detached Bungalow valued at N700 million (US$5.3million) for the Akwa Ibom State government at Uyo, Nigeria.

  3. Mutual Alliance Asset Management Ltd: This Company is involved in the following (a) consumer leasing/hire-purchase and corporate finance where it presently has the franchise for Loncin Motorcycles, Haier and Samsung products and does a monthly turnover of N150million (US$1.1million). (b) Commodity trading of items such as Rice, Cement and Building materials with monthly turnover in excess of N235million (US$1.8million). (c) Payroll lending with a loan portfolio of N65million (US$0.5million).

  4. Mutual Alliance Capital Markets Ltd:  This Company is involved in stock broking and Investments for the group.

  5. Mutual Telecommunications Ltd:  This Company is in partnership with a South African company (i.e. Skywards Development limited, SA) for the provision of V-Sat, internet services and international call card business and provision of fixed wireless lines in Nigeria.

  6. Mutual Alliance (T) Limited: This company will be involved in equipment leasing to the mining and construction industries, consumer lease/Hire purchase and manufacturing of house hold items such as gas cookers, air conditioners and refrigerators as well as set up subsidiaries to handle payroll lending and petroleum products importation and storage. This company will be the flagship for our East African expansion.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT TEAM OF THE GROUP

  • Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Essang, Chairman B.A., M.A., PhD. (Educational Administration), FIAM, JP

Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Essang graduated with B.A. in Education and worked as an English teacher in a few secondary schools.  Later she obtained her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Administration which aided her to rise from the ranks as a class teacher to a senior lecturer in the University of Calabar from 1990 – 2000.  Currently, she is the Chairman of Mutual Alliance Savings & Loans Limited and has brought her wealth of experience to impact positively on the image of the Bank. 

  • Okon Amasi, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO ( B.Sc.Biochemistry, PGD. Chemical Engineering, MBA (Finance).

Mr. Amasi is the Group Executive Vice chairman/CEO of Mutual Alliance Group, which comprises of the following companies - Mutual Alliance Asset Management Ltd., Mutual Alliance Savings & Loans Ltd, Mutual Alliance Property Development Ltd and Mutual Telecommunications Ltd and Mutual Alliance (T) Limited.

He has over 16 years experience in commercial banking, Mr. Amasi out of which over 5 years was spent in Executive Management.
Mr. Amasi’s core area of competence includes Banking operations, Treasury operations, Leasing, Commercial and Consumer banking as well as public sector Marketing/Corporate Finance. Mr. Amasi has worked in several banks including Diamond Bank Ltd, United Bank for Africa Plc and Societe General Bank Ltd.

Mr. Amasi is chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Directors as well as Chairman of many companies including Procom Dynamics Ltd., Satellite Wireless Networking Nig. Ltd. He is a director in several companies including De-Petraco Leasing Ltd., First Assurance Plc, Dowell Engineering & Construction Ltd as well as a member of the Governing Board of the Institute of Management & Finance.

Mr. Amasi was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the University of Uyo. He has served in various capacities in the Public service and is a member of Nigerian Economic Summit Group.
Mr. Amasi was awarded the chieftaincy Title of Iberedem Uyo (i.e. Pillar of Uyo) by the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for his outstanding achievements and contributions to Akwa Ibom State. Mr. Amasi is happily married and has two sons.

  • Eteka Ukoh, Director, B.Sc. Accounting

Mr. Ukoh is a Management consultant and a shrewd businessman with over 15years experience in the construction industry. He started his career in Kimtin Nig. Limited and later moved on to Teskisvic Services as Managing Director/CEO. He is a director of several companies including Dowell Engineering & Construction Ltd. Mr. Ukoh is currently the Managing Director/CEO of Tekisvic Oil Nig. (an independent oil marketing firm).

  • Dienye Peterside, Director,B.Sc. Geography & Planning

Mr. Peterside is a Leasing expert with over 10years experience in leasing, he started his working career at Infonet Nig. in January 1990 and moved to Isengi Communications Limited from where he was seconded to International Securities Ltd (a division of Allstates Trust Bank Ltd), In October 1990 he joined De Petraco Nig. as Executive Director, Marketing/Sales/Credit Control.
Mr. Peterside is a national council member of Nigerian Institute of Marketing and Nigerian Institute of Management. He is a director in several companies and presently the Managing Director/CEO of De Petraco Leasing Nig. Limited.

  • Mbuotidem Amasi, B.Sc. Accounting, ACA, Group DGM(Finance & Support Services

Mbuotidem’s experience spans over ten years in various sectors of the Financial System-which involved Service Management Operations Functions in Banking/Finance Institutions; Treasury Funds Management operations functions; Internal Accounts Management/Reconciliations; Appraisal/Budget Implementation functions; Administrative, Corporate Services Duties and Human Resources Management. Particularly, she has served as the Divisional Head, Support Services in the last Three years-which involved Managing, Supervising, and Executing a Strict, Conflict free, Motivational and Co-operative environment for the various units/personnel’s in the Organization.

She holds a first degree in Accounting (Second class-upper), having graduated as the ‘Best Student in the Faculty of Business Administration’ as well as the ‘Best Student in the Department of Accounting’, University of Uyo, Nigeria (1997). Mbuotidem started her career with the International Management and Finance Institute (IMFI) as a Research Manager, then proceeded to work with the Shell Producing Dev. Company(Business Support Unit). Later joined the Citizens International Bank, Nigeria, and served in various Operations Units. She joined the Mutual Alliance Asset Management Ltd as the Divisional Head Internal Controls/Support Services and is now presently the Group’s Deputy General Manager, Finance/Audit/Support Services.  She is a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA), married with children.

  • Angela Agwulonu, B.Sc. Accounting, Head, Group Human Resourses/Administration

An Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM), she is a graduate of Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, (formerly University of Ife). She is also in the process of completing her masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Imo State University. Angela has worked in various organizations like, Kenzmann Nig. Ltd., Societe Generale Bank (Nig.) Ltd., First Assurance Plc and Standard Guardian Ltd.
